The 75 member Stoneman Douglas Symphonic Band earned all Superior ratings at the Florida Bandmasters Association State Music Performance Assessment. For this outstanding accomplishment, the Symphonic Band was presented with the prestigious Otto J. Kraushaar Award, the FBA's highest honor. This award, named for the FBA Hall of Fame member, Otto J. Kraushaar, is given only to those few bands in the state who earn all superior ratings from all judges at all Music Performances Assessments for the entire school year.  This marks the highlight of what has been one of the most successful years in the Band's illustrious 22 year history!
 

MSD earns top honor at State Envirothon in Forestry!
After winning the county Envirothon in February the team of Caroline Atyeo, Marissa Krantz, Arianna Evans, Natalie Atyeo and Edward Yin advanced to the State Envirothon competition at Myakka River State Park on Saturday, April 28th.  The team earned one of five top honors, placing 1st in the state in the Forestry Division of the competition.

 The document includes explanations of the student and educator reports, a glossary of the terms used in these reports, and the Next Generation Sunshine State Standards (NGSSS) content assessed on the FCAT 2.0.
